Product Application & Research Centre (PARC) is the state-of-art application development laboratory & technological support facility of ONGC Petro additions Ltd. PARC has been set-up at Dahej SEZ (Gujarat) in OPaL’s mega Petrochemicals Complex to support OPaL’s petrochemicals business. PARC acts as an interface between polymer plants, marketing & customers

The key functions of PARC are:

  • Technical service to opal polymer customers (both domestic & overseas customers)
  • Extend technical support during business roll out phase for product establishment.
  • Resolution of customer's quality complaints
  • Support to plant operations for designing product specifications, quality control protocol, test methods, product quality improvement as per market needs etc.
  • Cost optimization by developing alternative vendors for additives and catalyst.
  • Development of new & value-added grades.
  • Evaluation of polymer grades / product testing support to customers
  • Arrange regulatory approvals for opal products.
  • Customer relationship management.

PARC group is manned by 04 experienced polymer technologists who have worked in leading petrochemical companies & other downstream polymer processing industry.

PARC Testing & Processing Facilities:

PARC infrastructure is built on around 15500 Sq. feet area in OPaL petrochemicals complex. The building has an awe-inspiring architectural design with latest finishing material being used to get a modern, stylish and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The building has several environment friendly and green features.

 

PARC facilities comprise of two buildings. The main PARC building houses administrative offices and four “Polymer Testing and Characterization Laboratories”. It has sophisticated equipment for testing of polymer raw material as well as finished products. These equipment are used for testing of physical, chemical, weathering, thermal, optical & environmental properties of polymers.

The “Polymer Processing Workshop” houses most of the plastics processing machines of semi-commercial size. Similar machines of higher capacity are used by our customers to convert polymer grades into variety of end products. These machines are used to predict the performance of polymer grades in market by converting them into finished products like films, molded articles, pipes, storage tanks, blow molded jerry canes, specialty compounds etc. Using these machines, PARC can determine the optimum processing conditions at which OPaL’s polymer grades gives best properties & accordingly can guide the customers. These machines will also be used to develop new applications for polymer grades & cost-effective formulations.

Prestigious NABL accreditation of PARC

PARC has recently accomplished the prestigious NABL accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 : 2017 standard from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, Constituent Board of Quality Council of India.

The certification scope is for 22 test properties as per different ISO and ASTM standards in the areas of Mechanical and Chemical testing. The test results are acceptable in 104 economies across the globe. NABL accreditation brings enhanced competency in testing results, that will further strengthen customer confidence in test certificate issued by the laboratory. With universal acceptability in the global market, it provides greater access for the products, in both domestic and international markets.
